CATL says mass production of sodium ion batteries next year

July 11 news, CATL today in the investment platform to reply to investors' questions is, once again stressed that the company is committed to promote the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries in 2023.

CATL revealed that the company has released a sodium-ion battery with a cell monomer energy density of 160Wh/kg, which can be charged more than 80% in 15 minutes in a room temperature environment. In a minus 20 degree environment, it still maintains a discharge efficiency of more than 90%, and the system integration efficiency can reach more than 80%.

In fact, compared to lithium-ion batteries, especially lithium iron phosphate batteries, CATL's first-generation sodium-ion batteries have no significant drawbacks, except for a weaker energy density. The second generation of sodium ion batteries in the planning, energy density is expected to break through to 200Wh/kg.
The outside world believes that this year, because of the rising prices of raw materials, market demand is hot, soaring fuel prices and other factors, resulting in high prices of new energy electric vehicles, a car is difficult to find, no clear price reduction may be a short time, sodium ion future mass production of commercial use may be able to bring changes to the entry to the mainstream of the new energy market, especially so that consumers can buy a better electric car at a lower price.
